I dag firas Loy Krathong 2019. Jag var på två olika firanden, först På Templet Chai Mongol och sedan Jomtien Beach. Mycket folk överallt och trafiken ät tät. Kopierar från nätet vad Loy Krathong är och varför det firas (på engelska)
Loy Krathong (Loi Krathong), one of Thailand’s most enchanting annual festivals. Loy Krathong, is celebrated on the night of the full moon in the 12th month of the traditional Thai Lunar Calendar. In the Western calendar, this year falls on 11-13 November. Also known as the “Festival of Light”
One of the most colourful festivals of the year in Thailand is Loy Krathong. This is when people go to their local waterway to float small bowl shaped containers called Krathongs in Thai. Inside are three incense sticks, a candle and usually a few coins. They float the Krathong to ask Mother Nature for forgiveness for polluting the rivers but also to thank her for water that brings life. Most people also take this opportunity to make a wish for good luck in the future. As they watch the krathong float away, they hope it will also take any of their bad luck.
